After Finishing M.B.A program in 1984 , the first batch of GNDU MBA program , I joined Electronic Systems Punjab Limited , Mohali trying to sell Main frame and Personal computers , without any knowledge or noticeable training of Computer Hardware or Software. In six months , I quickly learnt that without sound product knowledge it was not going to be a very successful career path. While doing my daytime job with ESPL, I started a small restaurant of my own in Chandigarh and found this to be more intresting, absorbing and potentially paying.
In 1985 ,I decided to deep dive into my culinary side of personality and went to do a Diploma in Hotel Management (with Kitchen as major) from Hotel School Caesar Ritz, Le Bouveret in Switzerland. I came back to Delhi to work in various managerial positions With Hotel Le Meridien and Hotel Hyatt Regency New Delhi . Then the rage of entrepreneurship overcame all my senses and I launched my first business venture , a company focussing on high end event catering under ‘The Ranch’ brand. Luckily the business took off better than anticipated and there was no looking back. In 1992, I started ‘Lotus Pond’, a high end oriental restaurant , the first of its kind outside a Five Star Hotel. One thing led to another and in no time I had 4 restaurants/Bars in NCR of Delhi . In 2010 I started ‘Caterman Cuisines Concepts PVt. Ltd’ , a company focussed on institutional catering needs (Educational institutions, Industrial production sites and Hospitals). Today we serve close to 70,000 meals a day and employ close to 1400 employees.
Golf, Fishing, Sailing Trekking , my family and work keep me going till day till I hang my boots(which I hopefully never will )
